Elevator Pitch No. 1

In today's post, I'm imagining myself talking to a group of investors. As you're all well aware of at this point, I've decided to pursue a venture concept that is a new mall for the city of Gainesville. This town, one of the oldest cities in America, has a lot of youth in it. However, outside of attending sporting events for the Florida Gators, and going to hole-in-the-wall bars, there isn't a whole lot to do. Malls aren't necessarily just a place to do your shopping -- I'm from South Florida, and malls there are a place of leisure and entertainment. My vision for Gainesville is a mall that includes high-end shopping, dining, and a luxurious movie theater. I also see it as a haven for nice bars and a nightclub, as well. My elevator pitch is my compelling offer to you, the investors, that should paint the picture that I have for this concept. I see it as a major project that will bring us years of profit and revenue, and should be a boon to the local economy. I've decided to call this mall "Metropolis" due to its significant impact on the economy in Gainesville. Thank you all for your time, and please enjoy the show.

Note: I've included two different links. One is a more HD version, and the other one is standard, which uses less internet data.

  1. Hey Jared,

I really liked your elevator pitch for a new mall in Gainesville called Metropolis. I totally agree Gainesville could definitely use a new mall. It is always a pain trying to find anything nice to buy in the Oaks Mall and we could definitely use a new updated mall. I especially liked your idea of making it more of an entertainment center with a movie theater and a couple of bars and nightclubs in it. I believe that would definitely draw a crowd and make the new mall a success.

  2. Loved your energy in your pitch and the fact that you did it outside, although you must have been dying in the summer heat wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans.

Although new malls are very exciting, I am not sure that Gainesville is the place to put a high end mall. I am not sure that it really has the right demographic for such a place. Although people would love the idea, I don't think they would necessarily have the funds to be able to keep the stores in business. I come from South Florida also and I agree that malls are more than just for shopping. Why not work on revamping the mall currently in place? I think that if high end clothiers and restaurants are not willing to bring their businesses to the Oaks mall in Gainesville, they would probably not be interested in a Metropolis in Gainesville either.
