Amazon Whisperer

As many of you are currently aware, my business venture is Metropolis, Gainesville’s newest mall that will feature high-end dining, designer-brand shops, and a luxurious IMAX movie theater. It will also include a parking garage, a brewery, and several bars and a nightclub. This is an extremely unorthodox business endeavor, but I truly believe that this is something that Gainesville needs, and there are many revenue drivers that make it a lucrative enterprise.

Revenue Drivers
Rental fees for tenants will be one of the biggest revenue drivers for Metropolis. This will include store-rental fees, kiosk-rental fees, and we’ll include a “break-point” clause in all rental agreements, which mandate that an increase in rent will happen if a tenant’s annual sales exceed a certain amount of dollars. Parking is an additional revenue driver – this will include a parking garage that charges fees on a per-hour basis, valet parking, metered parking, and an electric-car charging area, which will require payment for its usage. There will also be a car-cleaning service that will wash the cars for patrons for a fee while they do their shopping. Marketing and advertising will also be a revenue driver, which will include sponsorships, posters, floor decals, free-standing strollers, cars in the malls, and promotional giveaways in the mall. Additionally, weekend events will be a revenue source – this will include concerts in the courtyard, holiday events, art shows, movie-watching events, and movie-premiere events.

Next product offering
The next product offer for our clients will be web-based advertising and an e-commerce service. This will mean that we will provide display advertising opportunities on our website, and we’ll have a e-commerce service where customers will be able to make purchases on our website from stores in our mall, and local couriers will deliver them within minutes of purchase. Mall clients will have to pay us for this service, or they won’t be able to be listed as an e-commerce store on our website.

Next-Thing Enhancements
This will enhance my existing product offering because it is unlike anything any mall has ever created for their tenants. What an opportunity this is – delivering items from designer-brand shops right to the homes of your customers? It is a service that is unrivaled, and will absolutely separate you, the client, from the pack of shops in other malls.

Amazon-Product Similarities
This isn’t something that is a product sold on Amazon, as it’s more of a service than anything else. I did, however, find display ads on Amazon’s website that when clicked on lead directly to the product’s Amazon page. Here is one for Sony. This will be a very similar concept that Metropolis’s website will have – display ads that lead directly to the designer-brand’s e-commerce page.

Amazon Reviews
This does not apply, as there aren’t reviews for this service/product on Amazon. I did, however, check out reviews for Oaks Mall via Google (with permission from Professor Pryor) -- these are some that show how important Metropolis is for Gainesville.

Design/Usability Changes To Product
This product/service will be extremely user friendly for the customers of our tenants. It is meant to be easy to use, and will have a one-click purchase option. Just click on the item that you want from the store you’ve selected, and it will be instantly purchased and delivered within one hour.

Good Addition To Metropolis
This will be a good addition to Metropolis because it will incentivize stores to want to open up shop in our new mall, which means we’ll have more tenants, more rent, and more revenue. It will also increase general mall sales, which means tenants will stay longer and renew their leases.
